Best Features: Goes down easy & no bad aftertastes
Although I'm not a big fan of honey I was surprised at what I thought of Granville Island Cypress Honey Lager. It goes down easy. It has a slight taste of hops to it and a lighter finish with a hint of sweetness. It is not overpowering with honey and that's a good thing. This beer leaves no bad aftertastes lingering in your mouth. FYI: This beer is actually made with pure Fraser Valley honey. This beer match up well with the other honey lagers we tasted during our beer tasting class!

Best Features: complex sweet aroma
I usually don't drink honey lagers because I find them too sweet. Cypress Honey Lager from Granville Island Brewing was not. The colour is very appealling and the aroma was hoppy and sweet at the same time. The aftertaste was pleasant with a slight honey element. The beer is slightly lower in alcohol content (4.7%). The mouthfeel was crisp and this beer had the perfect amount of carbonation. This beer would be good for people who are not traditional beer drinkers but would like to experiment with something a little less mainstream. This would be a great beer to add to your holiday beer list and offer to your guests. |

Best Features: golden brown colour, hoppy aroma
This offering from Granville Island Brewery is quite interesting in its appearance and taste. When you look at this beer in a glass it has a colour very similar to the light golden brown of honey with a head that was short and compact. It's aroma was distinctly hoppy with a hint of sweetness. I found it to have a light body with the honey definitely apparent on the tongue, this was a pleasant surprise. The aftertaste was short and crisp. This would be a good beer to go with some lighter tasting food.
