Best Feature: bitter finish
Marston`s Pedigree comes in a very interesting bottle with a red and gold label. This beer is conditioned in oak casks for a long period of time. The initial pour produced a very nice rich creamy head. The aromas were a mixture of honey and chocolate or carmel malts. The colour is a vibrant caramel and very appealing. Surprisingly, the sweet aroma does not relate to a sweet tasting beer. The beer is smooth with a slightly bitter finish. Overall, this beer would make a fine addition to a strong tasting meal like curry, stew or garlic roasted potatoes. The website is also very informative.
Beer Fact: According to the Martston`s Brewery website, the secret of Burton's brewing success lies in it's water, the perfect blend for brewing bitter with its unique combination of sulphur, calcium, magnesium and low sodium levels. |

Best Feature: very alluring head
Marstons Pedigree is a sumptuous ale brewed in England . Our sample came in a nice tall dark brown bottle. When poured the head was a nice thick white with tight bubbles and its colour was a clear amber. I found the nose to rather sweet with hints of earthiness in it. The mouthfeel was average leading to a mild hoppy start with a light finish. A nice bitter ale that would accompany most hearty meat dishes.
Interesting Fact: Marston`s Pedigree is still brewed in the oak casks of the Burton Unions to preserve its unique character, consistent quality and taste.
