Best Features: not too sweet, creamy rich head

Kitsilano Maple Cream Ale is available throughout BC and is one of the best selling Granville Island Brewing products. The warm brown ale pours nicely into the glass producing a rich and thick cream colour head. The beer immediately releases a sweet malt and maple aroma that is very alluring. The first sip is very delightful; a sweet start with a bitter sweet middle with slightly roasted characteristics evident in the finish. Overall, this beer is creamy, slightly sweet and easy to drink. Try Granville Island Maple Cream Ale with roasted ham or a pulled porked sandwich.

Beer Fact: Granville Island Brewing is the biggest producer of beer for the Craft Brewers Association of BC.

Best Feature: sweet aroma

Maple Cream Ale from Granville Island Brewing is 5% ale that is available in both cans and bottles. The label depicts a bright scene of Kitsilano on a brown background.  The colour is a nice chestnut brown topped with a nice tan head which that lasted a long amount of time.  The nose was a rich maple smell with sweet malts malts undertone. of grains.  The mouthfeel was was fairly light for a flavoured ale with a medium amount of carbonation. Try Kitsilano Maple Cream Ale with BBQ steak or add some to your pot roast when you are cooking!

Beer Fact: Granville Island Brewery has daily tours and an excellent tasting bar right at the entrance of Granville Island.

Best Feature: great price point for a premium craft beer

The Beer of the Week is Granville Island's Maple Cream Ale. This beer has a distinctive local packaging featuring the Vancouver area. It has a light reddish brown colour and has a good retention of head. The best part of this beer is definitely the taste, with a smooth body and nice sweet aftertaste it is definitely one I recommend to others. As for food pairing, try this with sweet and sour pork or honey garlic ribs. At $10.75 a six pack, this beer is a real bargain.

Beer Fact: The darker the beer, the darker the combination of malts used. Although most beer is made with the majority of pale (or honey) malts, darker beers use these grains in combination with roasted or chocolate malts to produce darker beers with stronger flavours.
