Best Feature: a party beer
I am always happy when we review a strong, high alcohol content beer because it reminds me of my university days (or should I say 'university daze'). Lucky Lager Force 8 has one purpose - delivering a lot of alcohol for a very cheap price. The pour was fairly nice and Force 8 is definitely a little darker than most lagers. The aroma had hints of sweetness and was also slightly hoppy. The mouthfeel is very heavy (like syrup) and the taste lingers. The lingering aftertaste was bitter and had an alcohol burning/cooling sensation. Compared to other strong beers, Lucky Lager Force 8 is drinkable. However, with my university days behind me, a more developed and discerning palate, and, some money in my pocket (finally), I am afraid that Lucky Lager Force 8 would strictly be a party beer for me (maybe a Trailer Trash Party!).
Beer Fact: Most large breweries in North America produce super premium products, premium products and lower end (economy) products. The economy products are best sellers in some markets in Canada and this is directly related to socio-economic conditions. |

Best Feature: nice golden-honey colour
Lucky Lager Force 8 is available in the local market place in a unique 4 pack, very different for your average beer. At 8% alcohol I would expect this beer to be very heady in its aroma. I was pleasantly surprised in the appearance of this beer; it has a tight head that did not last very long and a nice golden-honey colour. The carbonation was about average with a distinct hoppy aroma. I found the mouthfeel to be a bit on the heavy side but not unpleasant. The flavour was very strong and crisp, chased with a unique finish that persisted. Not my style of beer but if funds were low and I wanted some bang for my buck Lucky Lager Force 8 would be on my list.
