Best Feature: great price, fresh beer!
Central City Premium Lager from Central City Brewing Company in Surrey is this week's beer. It is great that a brew pub gets a chance to add a canning line! The beer had a sweet aroma and is fairly dark for a lager. The head was creamy and dense and linger for a long period of time. Although there is a lot of carbonation and bubbles in the pour, the mouthfeel produces a mid-range carbonation level and the beer coats your tongue, almost like a honey lager or ale. The taste is light, slightly on the sweet side and smooth with a light hoppy aftertaste. This is definitely an easy-drinking beer that I could consume several at a time, especially at a party or while camping. The type of beer is very versatile and can be paired with a variety of light snacks and spicy meals. I enjoyed the beer a lot and I am a big fan of the price ($7.95 for a six pack!).
Beer Fact: Central City Brewing produces a wide range of products and sells cans from the liquor store. It would not be uncommon for this beer to be canned one day and then sold the next. Central City Brewing will be a participant in the 2007 Wine & Beer Festival at UBC and make sure you taste the Raspberry Wheat Ale! |

Best Feature: pleasant hoppy finish
Located in Surrey B.C. Central City Brewing puts out some very tasty brews, we were lucky enough to get come Premium Lager in cans. When poured this lager was a clear apple juice colour topped with a tight white head. The nose was slightly sweet with hints of fruitiness. I found the mouthfeel to be light with just the right amount of carbonation. The flavour was mildly cereal like with a pleasant hoppy finish. This is a nice smooth beer that would pair well with BBQ or a meal with a slightly sweet sauce.
Beer Fact: Gary Lohin, the brewmaster for Central City Brewing, has a great reputation in Canada for brewing some great beers. Head to the brewpub to try the great variety, you will not be disappointed!
