Best Features: roasted and sweet aroma
Canterbury Dark Mild is a beer that has been available in BC for several years. The pour produced a darker beer (amber) that has a light tanned loose and wispy head. The aroma is a sweet mixture of roasted malts; chocolate, cereal, coffee and caramel but with little to no hop aroma. The start was sweet followed by a crisp short finish with a subtle roasted flavour, similar to amber or cream ales. The light body created a light mouthfeel and short finish that only lingers for a short period of time. Overall I think Canterbury Dark Mild is what it advertises, dark in colour and mild in taste. This would be a good beer to cook with, especially because of the price point ($9.75). It will give you the characteristics of some darker beers but also provide a light texture to baking. Also, try this beer with Sunday stew, light BBQ sauces and teriyaki sauce.
Beer Fact: According to the Pacific Western Brewing website, Canterbury is Canada's first Dark Mild beer. At the 2008 World Cup of Beer, Canterbury won a silver metal in the "American Style Dark Lager" category!

Best Feature: price point
Canterbury Dark Mild, is a dark ale brewed by Pacific Western Brewing up in Prince George , B.C. We sampled this ale out of a standard 355 ml can with the red, white, and, blue of the Union Jack splashed across it. In the glass, this ale poured a delicious looking red brown colour topped with a rather loose off-white head. The aroma was distinctly roasted malts. The mouthfeel was a bit cloying on the tongue with a very subtle flavour and finish. I was a little disappointed with the lack of complexity in this beer beer, because I was hoping for something a little more complex. A good beer for those who tend not to like darker beers and definitely something
Beer Fact: Canterbury is considered a dark lager. Dark lagers blend different beer qualities of both lagers and ales; light mouthfeel, medium-high carbonation and roasted flavours.
