Best Feature: crafty, light mouthfeel
Mission Spring Bombshell Blonde Ale is the best selling beer that Mission Springs Brewing Company produces. It is easy to see why. This beer has very pleasant light flavours and is very consumable. This beer only has limited availability; it is not on the shelves at government liquor stores but is available through several private liquor stores and at the brew pub out in Mission.
This label is very easy to recognize with a blonde army woman riding a old style bomber. Bombshell Blonde Ale produces a nice creamy head with a sweet apple juice and citrus/fruity aroma. The bubbles are tight and the head does linger for a good amount of time. On the tongue, the beer is light with a medium amount of carbonation. The blend of tastes do stick to the palate for an extended period of time compared to lagers. The initial flavour is slightly sweet and fruity with a nice citrus and subtle hop finish. The overall mouthfeel is very pleasant making this beer easy to drink and smooth. Bombshell Blonde Ale is also slightly lower in alcohol coming in at 4.5-4.8% (depending on the label or the website listing).
The flavours of Bombshell Blonde Ale will work with a variety of foods especially because of the slightly hoppy and citrus finish. Try it with food with light lemon or citrus zest (white fish, lemon chicken or herb chicken). In addition, try Mission Springs Bombshell Blonde Ale with light salty foods, white and light cheese, and it could work well with zesty Caribbean foods like Jamaican patties and rice dishes.
Beer Fact: Mission Spring Brewing Company sells several different varieties of beer available in 650 ml bottles. The brew pub has lots of big screen televisions and a volleyball court perfect for some summer fun! During times of recession, brew pubs and craft brewers often suffer because their price point is a little higher than large breweries. It is important for people to support small breweries and small restaurants and pubs in order to assure their survival during tough times. Make sure to head out, drink some beer and watch the Canucks! |

Best Features: price point!
Mission Springs brew master, Tim Brown, hooked us up with a few 650ml bottles of this beautiful blonde. With a normal pour the head was decent and gradually receded into a fine ring around the glass. The colour was slightly cloudy similar to freshly squeezed apple juice and was complimented by a sweet fruity nose. I found the mouthfeel to be medium bodied and creamy with average levels of carbonation. The flavour was a bit bready with hints of grapefruit, but the tartness does not linger for any significant amount of time. I rather liked this blonde ale; I found it tasty and fairly balanced. I would definitely recommend this with some spicy tapas Â- 1 or 2 jalapeños to start the fire.
Beer Fact: Microbrewed beer is consistently inconsistent. This is good and bad; the good part is that no bottle or batch is exactly the same, the bad part is no bottle or batch is exactly the same, there can be some spoilage and other issues related to quality control.
