Best Feature: light and refreshing
Kirin Ichiban from Japan is one of my favourite international beers. When poured the head is nice and tight but did disappear rather quickly. An inviting hoppy aroma accents beautiful golden yellow colour. On the tongue, the mouthfeel is light and refreshing, with light carbonation. I found the aftertaste was minimal and disappeared rather quickly. I highly recommend this beer, it is definitely a beer I could drink on a regular basis throughout the year during various occasions. |

Best Feature: easy drinking
Japanese beers tend to be light colour and body (pilsner/lager style), easy to drink and refreshing, Kirin Ichiban is no exception. When poured into a glass the bubbles dance and the head is nice and compact. The aroma is light with a slight hoppy and sweet malt combination creating a pleasant smell. The mouthfeel is refreshing with a finish that is smooth and crisp. The last sip left me wanting more, the sign of a great beer! This beer works well with a variety of foods (including Asian food obviously) and is a favourite of the beer tasting class at UBC. Available at most liquor stores and fine Asian restaurants throughout the city, it is obvious why this quality beer is a hit in North America! |

Best Feature: great with sushi!
Kirin Ichiban has an appealing golden colour, pleasant aroma, the perfect amount of carbonation, with a smooth finish & no bitter aftertaste making this beer is extremely easy to drink. It's currently my pick when I'm at a Japanese restaurant or sushi bar. Kirin also goes well with virtually any kind of food. Kirin is Japan's # 1 brewery and it has been around for over 100 years. For freshness however, Kirin is brewed for North American distribution by Anheuser Busch. Priced around $11.45 / 6-pack @ BC liquor stores, definitely a premium product worth the extra money. Kirin is also available in convenient 650ml bottles, perfect for parties!
