Best Feature: microbrew taste!
Piper's Pale Ale from Vancouver Island Brewery poured very nicely into the glass and had a deep rich coppery-brown colour. The head was alluring and feature a fluffy head with dense bubbles. The aroma was light, but pleasant. On the tongue the beer had a medium amount of carbonation and the hop and malty flavoured lingered. The distinct flavour and mouthfeel are similar characteristics of other pale ales. Definitely worth a try, match this one with a steak or roast.
Beer Fact: Ales ferment at a warmer temperature and ferment more quickly, therefore they age in a shorter time than lagers. |

Best Feature: dark honey colour
I found Piper's Pale Ale to be unique, the colour led me to expect a very different tasting beer. Piper’s Pale Ale has a delicious dark honey colour with hints of copper and the head retention was good. The bouquet of this ale was very mysterious – you can detect hints of hop with a tinge of malt but nothing that is distinct. The body tended towards the heavy side for pale ales and yet was still light. The finish was smooth with a hoppy bitterness typical with this type of ale. I enjoyed the gentle aftertaste, which linger on my tongue for sometime. Overall I found Piper's Pale Ale to be flavorful and enjoyable but I don’t think I could drink it all afternoon.

Best Feature: price/aftertaste
Piper's Pale Ale has a very inviting deep copper colour to it. It has a medium body, slight malty aroma, & a subtle lingering aftertaste (not a bad thing). There are no preservatives in this beer either. This is definitely one of the better bottled micro brewed pale ales I have tasted. Grab a 6-pack available only @ BC Liquor stores for $10.60, or look for it on tap on the Island or throughout the Lower Mainland.
Beer Fact: Vancouver Island Brewing Company has been around since 1984, & is a craft brewery (meaning they brew to the Bavarian purity law of 1516).
