Best Feature: available widely on tap
Rickard's Red from Molson Canada was one of the first "Red" beers I tried many years ago. Available on tap at several pubs and restaurants this beer is easy to drink smooth and has a little more body than other Molson products. Rickard's Red has a fruity aroma, a deep amber colour and a pleasant head. It pours nicely in a glass, but this is one beer that I actually prefer to buy "on-tap" (as a draft product). Other "Red" beers tend to have more of a malty flavour and have additional body but, Rickard's Red is a good beer for traditional lager drinkers to try. Not too scary, the finish is smooth and has a slight lingering malty aftertaste.
Beer Fact: Rickard's Red was first brewed in Vancouver at the original Capilano Brewery in the early 1980's. |

Best Feature: dark honey colour
I have had Rickard's Red on tap and found the bottled version to be quite different. There is a touch of hops and the light sweetness of malt in the bouquet of this beer. I really like the dark coppery red colour and the head with large bubbles. The body was about medium with light carbonation followed with a smooth finish. I found the light hoppy bitterness in the aftertaste to be subtle and not overpowering. This beer was easy for me to drink and I would recommend it with a nice tangy piece of meat like a rack of lamb.
Beer Fact: Rickard's Red has been the top selling red beer in Canada for over 10 years!

Best Feature: taster packs available!
I found Rickards Red (AKA Molson Red) from Molson Canada to be a beer with no special attributes. It is an easy drinking beer with lower carbonation. The colour is reddy- brown (hence the name), but the head really is not as beige in colour as one would expect for a reddy beer. I would definitely drink this beer, but probably would not by it. However, Rickards has a couple other flavours that I have found slightly more enjoyable (& less promoted) than the "Red". Did you know that there are beers called "Rickards Honey Brown" and "Rickards Pale Ale" available?
Beer Fact: Rickard's has all three products available in a taster pack for only $18.45 - one of the cheapest prices for a taster pack in the market!
