Best Feature: definitely an attractive bottle
Fischer Traditional, imported by Amador Imports, comes in an exquisite pop-top bottle that is truly a work of art. The surprising 'pop' was followed by a slow release of gas and a nice aroma. We let this beer sit for a few minutes and admired the bottle and passed it around to smell the sweet fruity aroma. The pour was nice and it helped release even more of the aroma. The head was tight and there were plenty of bubbles rising to the top of the glass, indicating a higher level of carbonation. The mouthfeel was intense (like champagne) followed by a bubbly finish. This beer reminded me somewhat of a German style pilsner, very crisp. Fischer at $5.55 for the 650ml bottle would make a nice gift for beer collectors or as a centre piece on the dinner table.
Beer Fact: Fischer Brewery was founded in 1821 in Schiltigheim near Strasbourg, France, as a family business. Strasbourg is the heart of Alsace, and it is a cultural bridge between France and Germany. |

Best Feature: very alluring fragrance
What catches your attention right away for Fischer Traditional is the packaging – a rather large 650 ml Grolsch-style pop-top brown bottle. When poured this beer was a dark apple juice colour with a compact head which lingered for some time. Its fragrance was definitely very sweet and mildly fruity. The mouthfeel was about medium and a bit chewy, with high carbonation. The finish was short and its aftertaste was very minimal. An good beverage, but one I could only handle in small amounts due to the mouthfeel.
Beer Fact: This region of France is also famous for its passion and tradition of brewing. This is due to its microclimate that gives a unique taste and excellent quality to the hops and barley grown there. |
