Best Feature: "swing top bottle"
Grolsch is a 5% clear golden lager from Holland. It has a very light aroma, and typical carbonation. Light bodied with a faint hop finish, this is a very easy to drink, clean & refreshing beer. Nice price, and in a variety of packages at the government liquor stores: $2.50 per 473ml swing top bottle, $2.00 per 500ml tall can, & $9.95 per 330ml 6-pack. Try using Grolsch as an ingredient of your meat marinade. If it's a "swing top bottle", you can re-seal it, and enjoy the remaining suds later.
Beer Fact: Although Grolsch has been brewing since 1615, it wasn't until 1897 when they introduced the "swing top bottle". They almost scrapped it in the early 1950's, if it wasn't for the uproar of consumers. With worldwide recognition for this bottle sealer, the swing top is also nicknamed the "Grolsch Top", even on other brands bottles!

Best Feature: inviting colour
Grolsch Premium Lager comes in a nice looking bright green long neck bottle that has been cast with the logo actually on the bottle. When I poured this beer, the head was rather loose with large white bubbles and possessed an average level of carbonation. The inviting golden yellow colour was topped with a light hoppy aroma. I found the mouthfeel to be light with a smooth finish and hoppy aftertaste. This is a very easy drinking and versatile beer that would be good for most occasions and paired with most meals. .

Best Features: good party beer, smooth
Grolsch from Holland is available in three different styles, the tradition bottle six pack, 500 ml cans and the 473 ml swing top (pop top). All of the packaging comes in a nice shade of green. The swing top is especially eye catching and perfect as a gift. Once you open the bottle immediately a hoppy aroma is released and this last from first to last sip. The pour is light and crisp, the carbonation level is medium. The short-lived head was light, white, and wispy. This beer is slow-brewed and this is used to create a clearer appearance and more balance from start to finish. A hoppy lager good for cleansing the palate, try this one with everything from pizza to a stir-fry. At $9.95 for a six pack, Grolsch is definitely a good buy for an import lager and a perfect party beer.
Beer Fact: Grolsch is the #1 selling premium lager in Holland and known as the country's finest brewer. This beer is brewed slowly, for a fuller taste, clear colour and smooth finish. |
