Best Features: crisp, smooth, refreshing
Holsten Premium comes in a gold and green tall can is available throughout BC. The pour produced a beer with a minimal, wispy head. The beer is crystal clear and golden. The initial taste on the tongue is very crisp indicating a higher carbonation level, but not as high as other beers. The beer has a smooth clean and slightly bitter taste that lingers for a short period of time. The overall impression is a beer that is easy to drink, a great price point ($2.10) and refreshing. Like other German beers in the lager (or pilsner) style, there is no sweetness and a hoppy presents. Holsten Premium is a perfect beer to drink while enjoying the world cup. Or try this one while you are outside on the patio soaking up some sun. Match this beer with a light snack, some white fish or spicy sausage.
Beer Fact: There has been a huge influx of 500 ml cans in the BC Market and several of them come at a great price point ($1.95-$2.65). This style is perfect for beer tasting and sampling with friends. |

Best Features: refreshing and great price!
Holsten Premium is a 5% clear light gold lager with a slight hop aroma. This lighter bodied, higher carbonated beer flows crisp & clean from the start straight through to a mild hoppy finish. Simple & very refreshing. Available at most government liquor stores for the bargain price of $2.10 per 500ml tall can. Holsten Premium Lager would make a good choice to add to your cooler for an afternoon at the beach. As this beer is lighter & mild flavoured, It would pair well with a food that is also lighter in taste. Perhaps a cream sauce pasta or breaded chicken.
Beer Fact: This style of beer typically is served very cold. When pouring any beer, it is incorrect to serve in a pre-frosted glass or mug. The frost turns into condensation (water), slightly watering down your beer.

Best Features: light mouthfeel
Holsten Premiere Bier comes in a tall 500 ml can and is available in most government liquor stores in the lower mainland. In the glass, the colouration was like a clear apple juice topped with a light white head with average sized bubbles. I found the mouthfeel to be very light with a crisp and pleasantly bitter finish. Holsten Premier would be a very versatile beer that would accompany most meals. Overall I found this to be a very good 1516 style lager. This style of beer is the most versatile; great with spicy food, light snacks and BBQ.
