BBQ Beer Steak

BBQ Beer Steak is one of my favourite summertime meals. It is quick, easy to prepare and delicious. Try serving the steak with grilled potatoes, a salad or some fresh vegetables and dip. This meal should take less than 30 minutes to prepare and cook!

Ingredients (Steak):

  • 2 lbs of strip sirloin steak (or other type of steak)
  • 1 can of beer
  • 2 teaspoons of garlic powder (or garlic salt)
  • 2 teaspoons of oregano
  • 2 teaspoons of onion (or onion powder)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of pepper

Procedure:

Marinate the steak in beer for at least 3 hours – make sure the steak is completely covered in beer (a beer bath) and cover the container and place it in the fridge. Marinating the steak in beer overnight works best – the beer is a tenderizer and also adds great flavour and aroma. Try using different styles of beer like a honey lager or ale. Preheat the grill to medium or place the rack on the middle row. Take the steak out and place it on a lightly greased cookie sheet, tinfoil or directly on the grill. Season the steak evenly with the dry ingredients (garlic powder, oregano, onion powder, salt & pepper). Cook until ¾ done (when the outside begins to brown and the juice is clear). Baste the steak with the BBQ, cook a few more minutes, and serve.

Ingredients (BBQ Sauce):

  • 1 cup of regular BBQ sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 2 tablespoons of beer

Procedure:

Melt some butter in the microwave and add the BBQ sauce to the butter. Add 2 tablespoons of beer (if desired). Split this mixture into 2 containers; one to baste the meat cooking on the grill and one to serve as a condiment. Serve the BBQ sauce on the side.
