Ice Cream Beer Surprise!
Perfect for a hot topping on ice cream or other deserts, this recipe is sure to turns some heads. The recommended beer (Stout) has a very rich, roasted flavour that compliments roasted nuts.
Ingredients:
- ½ cup of Stout (or other flavoured beer – honey brown, lambic, wheat)
- 1-2 tablespoons of sugar (or maple syrup)
- *½ teaspoon of cinnamon
- *½ teaspoon of nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
- *1 tablespoon of butter
- ½ cup of walnuts (peanuts, almonds or mixed nuts, salted or unsalted)
- 3-6 cups of Vanilla Ice Cream
(*Optional ingredients – use to taste)
Directions:
In a pot pour in the beer and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer and add the sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract and butter. Mixed until all ingredients have melted thoroughly. In ice cream dishes place 1 to 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream. Cover the ice cream with nuts and pour warm ingredients over the top. Serve.
Serves 6-8 with a smile!
