We’ve been brewing craft beer in Canada for thirty years. That gives us experience and know how, some of our nation’s favourite beers and more secret recipes than grandma’s attic. However, what it can never give us in BC are the things we believe to be fundamental to the brewing of truly great Craft Beer. Nearby, fresh ingredients, local know-how and constant grassroots feedback. In our opinion, the only way to get those vital ingredients is to brew beer right in the market where it is enjoyed. Order outside & bring it inside to eat. Easy peasy. Our brewing philosophy is also very straight forward. We like to experiment, not take ourselves too seriously and constantly try new things. Bart has a Phd in nuclear physics, but he prefers to make beer not war, right here in Revelstoke. And Bart hasn’t let all that education stop him from making great beer. In fact, he’s managed to combine his scientific background with an artistic, if somewhat bohemian, flair for beermaking to create what The Globe and Mail and Vancouver Province newspapers have called some of the best suds around. Beers: High Country Kolsch, Begbie Cream Ale, Powerhouse Pale Ale, Tall Timber Ale, Selkirk Stout, Seasonal Brews |
Nelson Brewing CompanyWebsite: www.nelsonbrewing.com
Description: Since its inception in 1991, the Nelson Brewing Company has been dedicated to producing all natural, traditional, full-flavoured ales. In 2006 we decided to let the brewery evolve to an even more natural state, and by October of that year we were granted Certified Organic status. In a sense, we were getting back to our roots. People have been brewing organically for over 6000 years; the current practice of large-scale industrial farming with synthetic fertilizers and pesticides is an aberration of traditional farming, and therefore brewing, practices. Choosing organic production is also in keeping with the spirit of our home town of Nelson, a laid-back, progressive community nestled in the heart of the Kootenays. With limitless backcountry skiing and hiking at our back door, as well as a host of other outdoor activities year-round, brewing an organic beer in Nelson just seems like the natural thing to do. Beers: Paddywhack Pale Ale, Old Brewery Ale, Nelson After Dark, Blackheart Stout, Liplock Summer Wheat Ale, Faceplant Winter Ale, Authentic Wild Honey Ale |

We believe the story of our hand-crafted beer can’t be fully told using words alone. The beer’s story has to be experienced, one sip at a time. We only brew beer that we love to drink, so when it comes to telling our story, we let our beer do the talking. Cheers! Shaftebury Brewing CompanyWebsite: www.shaftebury.com
Description: We are British Columbia born and bred, originally started in 1987 by two young entrepreneurs - Tim Wittig and Paul Beaton - who had the idea of starting a brewery in Vancouver for fun. So yes, it’s true BEER = FUN. We should probably stop right here, but there’s actually more to this story. When the brewery was founded, British Columbia was known for the overwhelming popularity of Lagers - people said it was pointless to try and sell Ales. Good thing we didn’t listen because even though we only offered draught Ale in the Vancouver area, people instantly became fans of our beer! Soon, the idea of people taking our beer home sounded good so we started bottling and canning. By 1995, we had grown so much that we moved from Vancouver to the suburbs in Delta. By 1996, we needed to sell our brewing equipment, so we sold it to a start up brewery in Kelowna to help them get brewing. We managed to stay independent until 1999 at which time we were purchased and moved to Vernon. Over that time, we even found ourselves brewing with notorious brewers from Ontario to Japan. Still following? Good, because in February 2014, the brewery in Kelowna (still around) that purchased the brewhouse from us in 1996 (also still in use) to get themselves started wanted us back. Which is where we now brew today – back in our original brewhouse. In a way we came back home. Beers: Coastal Cream Ale, Wet Coast Wheat Ale, Four Twenty Brilliant Lager, Easy Honey Pale Ale, Summer Days Premium Pilsner, Winter Nights Black & Tan |

For over 17 years James and Storm Brewing have been bringing Vancouverites innovative and unpretentious craft beer. From the Hurricane IPA to the Imperial Flanders Red Ale, every beer we brew is made in small batches to guarantee freshness; our beers are unfiltered, additive free, proudly local and always delicious. Beers: Black Plague Stout, Hurricane India Pale Ale, Highland Scottish Ale, Precipitation Pilsner, Fruit Lambics |

In 1995, we grew out of our original operation and made the decision to build a new brewery at 2330 Government Street in Victoria B.C. where the brewery still stands and operates today. We have grown from just 6 employees in 1984 to over 40 today and all of our brewery employees are “Islanders” with true Island roots. We have developed a 30 year tradition and connection with Vancouver Island and are proud of our history of supporting numerous local businesses, charities, and community events over the years.
